Dissertation = DONE!

I have finally just finished my dissertation on street art! I have put my blood, sweat and tears into it so fingers crossed it'll do well.

I am now putting all my strength into my final major project, designing furniture based on youth culture. I have looked at skateboarders, music and graphic design which will go into a design for a coffee table. I decided on a table while looking through a skateboarding stickers book over Christmas and seeing a table in it covered in stickers. I thought it was brilliant, it looks amazing, the stories it would tell if it could talk! And to top it off it was originally from Southsea, very near where I live now! This is a very youth orientated area, with the skatepark a ten minute walk from my house, just wish I still skated! I am constantly in all the pubs on Albert Road, with their crazy décor and funky lighting. You meet some amazing people in them.

The research for this project is brilliant, it means I have an excuse to go to the pub! But I have loved checking out the graffiti around the area, I even went to Londons South Bank to have a look. I've seen some awesome stuff around! I'm hoping to get hold of some of it to use in my piece, need to talk to builders I think, for the fencing around building sites. One thing that has stood out is the colour in the paintings, and I know I want my piece to be bright and bold.

12 weeks to go till the show, wish me luck!
